On Monday 1 December, LCYO celebrated the end of the school year. 2025 saw LCYO rehearsing again at Lane Cove Public School (LCPS) after completion of the new hall. LCYO were joined in this event by LCPS Senior Strings and LCPS Concert Band. Talented guests from our community joined in the concert.

Supper is an important part of rehearsal and a tasty snack for concert-goers. Monday's concert was no exception with excited players and guests partaking in the refreshments. Many thanks to Lena for organising the wonderful supper for guests. Also thanks to Hao, Yvonne and Edwin for providing the warm supper for the players as well as the festive decorations.

Conducted by Mark Brown, LCYO kicked-off the concert with the Christmas favourite, Winter Wonderland. The upbeat mood was continued with the jazzy pieces - Take Five and Mack the Knife. Mya Hill, our scholar conductor, took over the Christmas reins with Frosty the Snowman.

The LCPS Senior String Ensemble, conducted by Cathy Upex, played the reflective melancholic pieces, The Knight Errant and The Silver Forest.

LCPS Senior Concert Band, conducted by Prem Love, played A Story To Tell, Fiesta Blues and The Avengers.

For the last set, LCYO played the perennial favourite, Sleigh Ride. This is the nineteenth consecutive time that Mark has included Sleigh Ride in the Christmas repertoire!

The three groups, together with players from the wider community, combined to play some favourite Christmas songs. The fabulous grand finale was The Hallelujah Chorus from The Messiah.
